Argentina is set to hold its first ever presidential debate on 4th October at the University of Buenos Aires (UBA) law faculty.
The six candidates to succeed President Cristina Fernández de Kirchner have been invited to face off in a debate that will be transmitted live on all major TV and radio channels (both public and cable).

The six presidential candidates will face off on 4th October at the UBA law faculty.
The proposal was brought forward by NGO Argentina Debate, a multisectorial initiative that aims to promote a culture of dialogue and institutionalise presidential debates.
“We want the debate to be a public good. As such, it requires the cooperation of many to produce benefits for many more,” said José Octavio Bordón, a former politician and member of Argentina Debate’s Strategic Committee. “We can have a quality debate that also reflects the co-existence and common will of actors that normally compete with each other, like the candidates or media outlets.”
A spokesperson for Argentina Debate told The Indy today that they would now be seeking confirmations of attendance from each of the six candidates. He added that there has already been a fluid dialogue with each camp for months, and that each has verbally expressed a willingness to join.
More details about the moderators and issues to be discussed will be released this week.
